Our history
1969
Penrose became a registered Charity set up by two ex-offenders and a number of volunteers.
1975
Penrose's total income for the year was £3,147.
1989
Penrose merged with Hargrave House to become Penrose & Hargrave House Housing Association.
1992
14 staff now working for Penrose.
1995
We changed our name to Penrose Housing Association.
1999
Penrose won the Andy Ludlow Award for 'New Hope', our project for mentally disordered offenders based in the Borough of Lewisham.
2000
New Hope successfully completed its first year.
2001
We took on interim management of the Effra Trust to provide housing, care and resettlement placements in the Borough of Lambeth.
We won the Health & Social Care Award for our pioneering work at our New Hope and Jigsaw projects.
2002
We opened a scheme in the Borough of Camden providing 21 beds for male ex-offenders.
2003
We were finalists in the first ever Business Link for London Excellence Awards.
We set up 'Focus', our project for mentally disordered ex-offenders in the Borough of Lambeth.
2007
We won the BME Spark Award / Start of FTPS pilot, MAPPA pilot.
We opened a project for ex-offenders in the Borough of Harrow.
2008
Penrose total income for financial year was £6.5million.
2009
We celebrate our 40th Anniversary.
