Penrose became a registered Charity set up by two ex-offenders and a number of volunteers. Penrose's total income for the year was £3,147. Penrose merged with Hargrave House to become Penrose & Hargrave House Housing Association. 14 staff now working for Penrose. We changed our name to Penrose Housing Association. Penrose won the Andy Ludlow Award for 'New Hope', our project for mentally disordered offenders based in the Borough of Lewisham. New Hope successfully completed its first year. We took on interim management of the Effra Trust to provide housing, care and resettlement placements in the Borough of Lambeth.

We won the Health & Social Care Award for our pioneering work at our New Hope and Jigsaw projects. We opened a scheme in the Borough of Camden providing 21 beds for male ex-offenders. We were finalists in the first ever Business Link for London Excellence Awards.

We set up 'Focus', our project for mentally disordered ex-offenders in the Borough of Lambeth. We won the BME Spark Award / Start of FTPS pilot, MAPPA pilot.

We opened a project for ex-offenders in the Borough of Harrow. Penrose total income for financial year was £6.5million. We celebrate our 40th Anniversary.
