Lambeth - Forensic Intensive Psychological Treatment Service (FIPTS)
These residential hostels are part of the Forensic Intensive Psychological Treatment Service designed to provide effective and meaningful assessment, treatment and management of people with personality disorder. Service users require sustained intervention to modify cycles of behaviour that cause harm to them or others and result in breakdown of community networks, support mechanisms and mainstream services. The service is delivered in partnership with the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust that provide support via a multi-disciplinary FIPTS team, working alongside Penrose staff to deliver an integrated service to meet the needs and risks of the service users group.
The project consists of a high support Registered Care Home awarded three star excellence rating from the Care Quality Commission, and low support units. It has a number of aims:
- To reduce and manage the risks presented by the service user group in the least restrictive environment possible
- To reduce personality pathology and the associated distress
- To increase pro-social and adaptive behaviour in relationships, employment, education and community integration
- To promote independence and increased quality of life
